Here we are, wireless in my Paris hostel, so let's put up some more pics from the road:

...wall facing the harbour

"Pigeon Fountain"

..is explained by...

Another view of the wall around the city...

...and another

Former storehouse, now a museum

Smaller shopping street, vine covered, which was like in places in Damascus (except I didn't get good shots of those)

...The nearby temple...

...detail of the female figures as columns...

Acropolis! (some restoration in progress)

Theatre of Dionysus, from the Acropolis

Ancient Greek Agora

Mycenean gold funerary masks

Some seemed to have a jade-like stone blade, which I found interesting

Really big vase (again, Mycenean)

...more fine vases (with the red, black, and white work)

Another view of the Temple of Dionysus

Temple of Olympian Zeus (the remaining columns out of 50+ originally)

View near Delphi

More stuff from museums...

Notable as it was a round temple (still near Delphi)

Foundations of the gymnasium (it was big)

Dusk in the streets of Nafplio

Harbour of Nafplio

Lions Gate (entry to Mycenae)

Grave circle A (or is it B??), Mycenae

Evening performance at Epidavros, the ancient theatre

Iraklio, Crete

Venetian built stores in Iraklio

Colourfully imagined palace at Knossos (site of the Minoans)

View from the Venetian fortress in Iraklio harbour

My ferry back to Athens

Newfoundland, WTH!?

I wasn't kidding these ferries can be pretty swanky (this was the reception for those lofty people with cabins, I just walked past...)

So that was a quick summary of my adventures in Greece, for more detail and context, please go back to the posts for another view. After that, I flew through Milan to London, so London and finally European photos will be next (there's lots of those too). Chances are, I *might* get the London photos up before my flight on the 20th, otherwise, I'll be on hiatus online as I rush about running errands and driving across Canada. Later, V.
